Board-Certified Neurologist

 

Mark A. Nelson, DO, DPN, joined Long Island Neurology Consultants in 1997.  He is board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and a member of the American Academy of Neurology.  Dr. Nelson served as a neurological consultant at Mount Sinai South Nassau Hospital for over 20 years and held a position on their Ethics Committee for several years.  He was voted best Neurologist on Long Island by the Long Island Press in 2018 and was nominated for several years over the past decade. Dr. Nelson, a native Long Islander, completed his internship and residency in neurology at Nassau University Medical Center where he served as chief resident of Neurology from 1995 to 1996.  He received his undergraduate and medical degrees in a seven-year accelerated B.S/D.O. program at the New York Institute of Technology and the New York college Of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Nelson is also fellowship trained in Electromyography (EMG) and neuromuscular disease.  He specializes in diagnosis and treatment of neurological diseases and disorders including, Headache Disorders, Dementia/Alzheimer’s, Stroke, Spinal and Movement Disorders, and Multiple Sclerosis (MS).
